My roommate Chris and I went on a Big Ol' Road Trip from August 2 through 11, 2005. We had no plan when we left, other than to see the Mountains. It turned out well: We saw 5 National Parks, 7 National Forests, biked in several states, and kept the oil companies in business for one more week. My car is now 4300 miles closer to being out of warranty, and my bike hit a bird at 80 MPH on the interstate in Utah. It only rained twice while we were not driving, and only once while we were not sleeping (last day).
We spent $70 on park fees, and $11 on lodging, which brought the trip total to about $500 for the whole deal, plus food. We ate like kings with steak on the grill, thanks to a last-minute loan of a Coleman stove with a grill built in (thanks Tom, Janet, and Connor!). I took nearly 450 pictures, which are NOT all here for you to look at. You're welcome. :)
This map shows most of the places that Chris and I stopped at and spent nights at over the course of The Epic Journey. Click any of the stops on the trip to see pictures.
Enjoy! - Jason
